Tilapia lodge

Location: Start your safari straight away after arrival Tilapia Lodge is located in Lulongo just across the bay from Entebbe.

Access by boat or ferry from Nakiwogo or via Kasanje road from Mpigi if you are connecting straight from safari.

Rooms: The lodge has spacious cottages. Here you stay in a safari style cottage in a jungle park setting.

Room amenities: Our cottages here at Tilapia Lodge each has a veranda from where you can enjoy the surrounding nature. In the spacious bedroom we can set for single, double, twin or triple beds. The beds are equipped with a mosquito net.

Each cottage is self-contained with a warm water shower. There is charging possibility available in the room.

Restaurant: The restaurant is located by Lake Victoria in a jungle park setting. You hear birds singing and automatically relax in the close to nature restaurant.

Here the Tilapia fish is served as well as other tasty dishes. A goal is to serve meals with a local touch, giving the guests a chance to experience Uganda’s tasty, fresh food.

Tilapia Lodge is build on the land of an old plantation and that heritage stays in the way that there are bananas, cassava, jams, pumpkin and matoke growing here. This richness in fresh Ugandan food for sure elevates the meals served.

Activities: Mabamba Swamp is close by Entebbe and it is home to the Shoebill Stork. This pre-historic looking bird is a special sight both for birders and non-birders. To see it stand like a statue in the middle of the swamp as it waits to catch a fish is a fascinating sight. You search the channels in the swamp in a small boat with a specialized guide. Enjoy a peaceful cruise on Lake Victoria. There are options of a cruise along the shores, sunrise cruise, sunset cruise or a visit to the Equator line in Lake Victoria. Lake Victoria is the second largest fresh water lake in the world as well as the biggest lake in Africa. The lake got its English name from the explorer John Speke who named it after the Queen of the United Kingdom. Cruising on this iconic lake is truly an experience.
