Mihingo lodge

Location: In a magical setting bordering Lake Mburo National Park. Perched on a rocky outcrop, whose pre-Cambrian granite boulders were formed over 500 million years ago, it has spectacular views over a vast savannah landscape.

Accommodation: Mihingo Lodge has 12 luxury tented rooms designed to provide guests with privacy and tranquility. Each room has its own unique charm and character, whether set in the woods, overlooking the lake, on a rocky outcrop or by the watering hole.

Room Facilities: Each spacious canvas tent is equipped with en-suite bathrooms, hot and cold running water, showers and flushing toilets. The rooms have been carefully designed to complement the local environment with great attention to detail. The doorways are framed by beautiful pieces of dead olive wood found on the land.

Restaurant: The spacious thatched dining area sits atop the rocky outcrop and offers panoramic views across the park and beyond. A steady breeze from Lake Kacheera makes it one of the coolest spots in the lodge on a hot day. Overlooking a watering hole and a salt flat, it’s a perfect place to enjoy great food and watch wildlife at the same time.

Facilities: Escape the heat of the African sun with a dip in the pool. Overlooking the large watering hole and saltlick, you can do your game viewing from the comfort of a lounger with a cool drink in hand. Open 24 hours a day, in the evening there are lanterns around the edge of the pool in case you fancy a dip under the stars. Full body massages are available, lasting approximately 1 hour. On the rocks behind the dining room is a small craft shop selling handmade crafts from all over Uganda.

Activities: Horseback riding safaris are a great way to see the wildlife around Mihingo Lodge. Lake Mburo is the only park where this is possible. Ask us for more information about horseback riding safaris. A boat trip on Lake Mburo is the best way to see the lake and its inhabitants. There are also nature and cultural walks, night game drives, running route outside the park, walking safari, mountain biking, visit to local school.
