Kampala is the largest city and the country’s capital, Uganda (Yuganda in Ugandan languages), officially the Republic of Uganda (Swahili: Jamhuri ya Uganda, is a landlocked country in East Africa. The country is bordered to the east by Kenya, to the north by South Sudan, to the west by the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to the south-west by Rwanda, and to the south by Tanzania.
Entebbe International Airport is the only international airport in Uganda. It is located about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) southwest of the town of Entebbe, on the northern shores of Lake Victoria.

Payment: The currency in Uganda is the Uganda Shillings. In Uganda you can pay with your credit card (think of the commissions) and withdraw money with your bank card (don’t forget to check if you can do worldwide withdrawals before departure). Local banks and credit unions usually offer the best rates. Major banks, such as Chase or Bank of America, often offer the added benefit of having ATMs overseas. Online bureaus or currency converters, such as Travelex, provide convenient foreign exchange services. Both euros and dollars are accepted.
Taxi in Uganda: If you don’t hire a car, your options for getting around cities are shared taxi vans (known as matatus) and boda boda motorcycles, both not always the safest option). The safest option is to take private taxis (the taxi-ride app Uber operates in Kampala).
Photographing in Uganda: You can take the most beautiful pictures in Uganda. And even if you can manage to take great photos with a mobile phone, if you want to come home with great photos, you’ll need a camera with a zoom range at least ten times greater than a standard compact camera, or a 400mm lens on an SLR camera.
Think of spare batteries, a dust-free bag, keep in mind that it can take a lot of time to upload your photos with a USB cable in internet offices with often slow connections. Therefore, take enough memory cards with you. If you intend to take professional photos of the wildlife, please read carefully about using your camera to get the most out of it. The locals do not appreciate it if you want to take a photo without being asked.
Travelling with children: book a family safari or private safari to tailor made the trip customized to the needs of your children. Think of enough time in between the gamedrives and travel time to give them a rest. Think of enough activities to keep them focussed and interested, choose an agency which is giving special care to and for children. Some thing extra to keep them busy with in the vehicle, and special child friendly activities.
One of the reasons Uganda is described as the pearl of Africa is because of its beautiful weather all year round the average temperatures are between 21ºC and 31ºC all year round. There are two rainy seasons from March to May and October to November. Temperatures in mountainous areas may go down to 10°C in certain months. Parks, Lodges and other facilities are open all year round. Any time of the year is good to visit Uganda.
Health & Medical
Please bring all personal medications required, clients are fully responsible for securing adequate medical insurance. And its highly recommended that clients cover their own travel insurance to protect them from heavy costs and medical just incase they may get sick during your safari.
Vaccinations & Immunization.
Recommended vaccines to consider Hepatitis B, Meningococcal Meningitis, Rabies, Typhoid. You must show a proof of your yellow fever vaccination at arrival!
It is recommended that you drink bottled or boiled water only sodas and alcoholic drinks are considered safe coffee and teas, as well as fresh fruit juices, are prepared with boiled water.
