3 days Chimpanzee
Day 1: Kampala > Ngamba Island. Today your trip is focussed on visiting the chimpanzees at Ngamba Island. Our driver will pick you from the hotel, you will be taken to the pier in Entebbe for a boat ride to Ngamba Island, home of the 39 Chimpanzees.
Upon arrival at the Ngamba Island you will be given a short introduction/history and briefing on the Sanctuary itself after the medical protocols have been dealt with. This will then coincide with feeding time for the chimpanzees, when one can watch the chimps interact with each other, and with their keepers.
Day 2: Physical encounter with the Chimps during the Forest Walk. Early in the morning you will start the Forest Walk which is quite an unique experience, as the playful chimps will climb on you, pull your hair or maybe just walk alongside holding your hand. This body contact is the reason there are such stringent medical requirements for visitors. The walk with the chimps is limited to 3 people maximum at one time.
Day 3: Return to Kampala. Breakfast at the restaurant; departure on the 9 am boat for Entebbe. Some guests may go directly to the airport to catch flights; alternately, at Entebbe itself, we offer a visit to the Uganda Wildlife Education Center. The center is a mini zoo of many of the animals one can view in the wild in the various National Parks in Uganda. Here you can see lions, leopards, elephants, warthogs, buffaloes, various reptiles, crocodiles, and numerous bird species.
