5 Days Kidepo Highlights
Day 1: Transfer > Kidepo. Depart Kampala early in the morning for Gulu via Luwero you will have a
stopover in Gulu for breakfast later proceed to Kidepo. Later in the afternoon arrive at Apoka at the
outskirts of Kidepo Valley National Park (just 500m from the park gate), After checking in, you will take
lunch at the lodge overlooking the park surroundings. Relax and later if time allows you will go for an
afternoon game drive into the Narus Valley below. 17:00 Dinner will be served at the lodge under the
thatched dining area, with a view out towards Kidepo’s stunning starry skies.
Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive. After an early morning breakfast, we will take a thrilling game drive in
the savannah plains of Kidepo which supports countless numbers of wildlife including cheetahs,
spotted hyenas, buffalos, elands, striped jackals, elephants not forgetting the lion. Return to the lodge
for lunch. After relaxation, we will go for another game drive to the Narus Valley to find more wild
game that the park harbours. You will have a great opportunity for photographs as we return to the
lodge.
Day 3: Nature walk and Hot spring Visit. Following breakfast, you shall have the opportunity to explore
the Waruitt Kanangorok hot springs, which flow amidst rocky terrain, offering a stunning vista of
expansive grasslands punctuated by large rocky formations. The springs are surrounded by rugged
mountains including the Napore range, Taan and Natera hills, as well as portions of Nyangea,
Morongole, and Zuulia forest reserves.
Later in the afternoon, you shall visit the Ik people, embark on a hike to the Lomej Mountains, and take
leisurely strolls through the Narus Valley. Encounter members of the endangered IK tribe and engage
in cultural exchanges during a guest-host interaction. Noteworthy are their prized cattle, historically
central to their way of life, often leading to cattle raids in the region.
Day 4: Cultural Visit. Have breakfast and transfer to Moroto. Here you will enjoy cultural experiences,
and outdoor adventures (Hiking and Bicycle tours)The Karamojong people are some of the immediate
neighbors of the Kidepo Valley National Park The Karamojong are traditionally nomadic people. Their
main livelihood is herding livestock, and the social and cultural importance will be explained as you
walk with the guides to the traditional Karamojong manyattas (homesteads) and you will experience
cultural performances from the Karamojong people.
Day 5: Moroto – Kampala. After an early morning breakfast, you will depart Kampala Via Nakapiripirit
to Mbale then Jinja or via Napak to Katakwi, have a stopover in Soroti or Mbale for lunch and later
proceed to Kampala and you will be dropped off at home.
